Curriculum Night

The PPAS Academic Team is excited to present the PPAS Academic Curriculum Night to all parents on Thursday, October 6th at 6:00 PM.  We are welcoming parents who would like to come to the building in person (note the NYCDOE policy requires any non-student person entering a school building to be fully vaccinated, so please have proof of vaccination if you choose to come in person).

In person participants can meet some teachers face-to-face and see some of our facility that your child comes to every day.  Note that as per DOE policy teachers may choose to participate remotely – those teachers will be presenting from a remote location that will be projected on a large screen.

For parents who choose to participate remotely, we will have Zoom links so that you can fully participate in the presentations and Q and A session.

We will record all Zoom presentations and archive them for viewing at later times.  This is particularly helpful for those of you who have more than one child at PPAS!

Curriculum Night will be structured by grade level. Each High School grade will have a presentation, and there will be one presentation for the entire Middle School.

For in-person participation, parents will meet in a dedicated space for their child’s grade level presentations and Q and A at PPAS – 328 West 48th Street.

For remote participation, parents will view presentations on Zoom and will be able to participate in the Q and A by using the chat option in the Zoom room.

We will be sending out grade-level Zoom links next week prior to the Thursday evening presentations.

PPAS Alumni Film

Generation Wrecks features PPAS alumni Victoria Leigh, Violet Prete, Noa Solomon, Jonah Barricklo, Jibreel Mawry, Sam Poon, and Alice Kremelberg. It will be playing its 10th festival on June 20th, at Manhattan Film Festival’s Cinema Village. You can purchase tickets through their website, www.Generation-Wrecks.com

Victoria and Bridget wrote Generation Wrecks with Victoria’s father, Kevin T. Morales, starting in the summer before junior year and continuing on weekends during school months. Right up to the very moment they started filming three days after Victoria’s last day at PPAS.

Generation Wrecks is not MPAA rated but contains moments of strong language, and teen partying.

PPAS Spring Slam

Hey PPAS parents, guardians and students!!!

The pieces are coming together so I’m excited to announce the upcoming 2022 Spring PPAS Slam!

For those that don’t know, the Slam is our annual talent show, hosted by the PTA and featuring students from both the middle and high schools.

We’ll be holding the auditions Saturday afternoon, April 2! We are still working out whether they will be virtual or in person – stay tuned but start working on your act!!!

A note from Director Arri Simon:
Acts should be 3 minutes or less, and appropriate for school. No profanity or anything provocative or suggestive of violence. We ask that the kids please bring sheet music in the correct key. If you need a track for your act, make sure it’s downloaded to phone or mp3 player, NOT streaming. Each act that’s accepted will be on only ONE of the two nights.

While we generally accept all acts which are prepared and appropriate, we do have a limited amount of spots, so if kids are in multiple acts, we reserve the right to limit participation.

You will NOT be allowed to audition if you are not fully prepared. The piece you use to audition must be the exact same piece you perform at the show.

*There will be a tech rehearsal on Thursday, April 7th in the late afternoon/evening. The Slam itself will be Friday, April 8th at 7pm in the PPAS Auditorium.

The ticket prices are:
Adults – $20
Students/Kids – $5
PPAS Students and Teachers – Free
